Shem and Shaun are two monks walking along the road to their destination. Ahead of them appears a washed out bridge and a woman standing in front of the rushing stream. As the two approach they notice that she is quite beautiful. She asks the two monks if they can help her across. Shem hesitates remembering his vow to never hold on to beauty too closely, but Shaun quickly grabs her by her waist in a tight embrace and carries her across the rushing torrent.
A few miles down the road Shem, unable to contain his frustration and confusion, demands to know why Shaun was so quick to forget his vow and hold on to the beautiful woman so tightly.
Shem looked at his friend with confusion in his face, "I let her go on the shore of the river long behind us, I wonder, brother, why you are still holding on..."
